The Kava Lounge at 2812 Kettner in Little Italy has been open for over a year, but we just found out about it. This cozy vegan establishment is tucked away in an unlikely location, about two blocks north of The Casbah (Kettner and Laurel) on the west side of the street.
Kava lounge features an array of:
* Organic beer, wine, port, mead & champagne.
* 10 of the best local micro brews on tap.
* Exotic Soju, Sake mixed cocktails & martinis made w/fresh fruit & natural ingredients.
* Raw & Restorative elixirs (non-alcoholic), Organic Tea's & Coffee. |

I heard about an event at Kava Lounge that sounded great: free vegetarian barbecue plus live music---Al Howard even! Almost too good to be true.
Lo and behold, after driving across the city and finding parking, the girl at the door asked us for $7. We told her the Kava lounge's own Web site stated the event was free, but she told us this was none of her business and she was just supposed to collect money. :(
Here's a link to the event. You'll notice the first word is FREE in all capital letters and there is no mention of any charge.
