Jimbo's 4S Ranch: great vegan bakery
Ezerbio The newest Jimbo store at 4S ranch has a broad offer of vegan cookies, muffins, scones, cakes and other baked goods. The baker, Natalie, ensures the shelves are always staked with plenty of goods. The service and shopping experience, as in all Jimbos, is excellent. If you live in the area I highly recommend it.
Better than most, but could improve
marie Jimbo's is a clean store which has a good stock of natural and organic foods, most often very fresh produce, and a good juice bar and deli. However, I have not found, as the other writer has, that they are willing to order items not in stock. I've tried repeatedly to get them to carry the hands-down best miso, Osawa, but they refuse to order it, favoring a really yucky one, instead. They've offered to get me a whole case, but that's not very helpful! I also called and spoke to the grocery manager about getting hemp flour (which makes the best gluten free pancakes). He promised to get back to me three weeks ago, and I've never heard back.

Also, the bulk nuts are sometimes a little stale.

My suggestion is that, rather than comparing themselves to other small stores in San Diego, which has a dearth of natural food stores, they should do some field research in other cities and adopt the best practices of stores like Rainbow and Real Foods in SF, Mother's in Irvine, and smaller coops in the Midwest.
Good Yes, some bad
Christopher Mckay I frequent Jimbos in Carmley Valley very often and have been overall pleased. They have a fairly small store small frozen foods selection, and a small fish selection, but they carry most all major organic and all natural brands. If you want an item they don't have, they will special order it for you no charge. Some of the cashiers are slow and around 4-6pm there are always long lines. Sometimes I see bugs around the berries section, and I have found that they do not throw away expired products (I've seen mold on some bread). Most of the staff are helpful and nice.
Trust in my neighborhood store
Kat Jimbos has healthy foods. I trust their stock. I dont have to read the labels. They have true health foods. Dont even compare this store to Trader Joes or Henrys which are junk food stores.
Lucky find
Chris We just relocated here and quickly chose a temporary home while we settle in the San Diego area, only to find Jimbo's as our nearest store. We're just delighted to see we can get all of the organic and natural foods we are used to at reasonable prices, and with cheerful service from a great staff. Excellent produce department. We think Jimbo's would be a great find anywhere, let alone right around the corner!
