Stuart Alexander, 'Sausage King,' found dead in his cell Stuart Alexander, the so-called "Sausage King" who received the death penalty in February for the murders of three meat inspectors, was found dead in his cell at San Quentin State Prison.
Alexander had been under constant video surveillance, with guards checking on him every 15 minutes, after he was placed on suicide watch on Christmas Eve. Prison officials reported that while Alexander had repeated treatment for mental illness, he was physically healthy. Guards had checked on Alexander at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning and found him sleeping normally; a cell check 15 minutes later found him not breathing and unresponsive.
